Ozzy Osbourne‘s health woes may yet curtail his planned touring this year. Osbourne recently announced that he has been diagnosed with PRKN 2—a form of Parkinson’s disease. The diagnosis was made as doctor’s sought to repair the damage Osbourne suffered during a late night fall in his home around this time last year. Osbourne, who was recovering from pneumonia at the time, disrupted surgical work done following a 2003 ATV accident in that tumble, leaving him bedridden for several months.
Osbourne continues to recover from the latter tumble and the side effects from surgery to correct it a year later (he continues to use a cane as of late for mobility issues,) while also addressing the effects of the aforementioned degenerative disorder. Speaking to CBS on the red carpet at last night’s (January 26th) GRAMMYS at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, Osbourne stated of his 2019:
“This last year has been hell for me. I’ve had surgery on my neck. I’ve announced to the world that I’ve got Parkinson’s. It’s been one rock ‘n’ roll year for me.”
In regards to his hopes to complete his previously booked final world tour, he offered:
“If I’m well enough, I’ll work towards it. I’m having physical therapy every day, five days a week. I’m trying, doing the best I can. Neck surgery’s not easy.”
His daughter Kelly, who was by his side on the red carpet, offered:
“Seeing how far Dad’s come this year and how far he’s come in the last week alone has just been incredible. I think coming out and telling his truth has been a weight lifted off of his shoulders. And even like his physical therapist is saying how far you have moved forward in this last week is insane.”
Ozzy and his wife Sharon would later present best rap/sung performance at the ceremony, you can find some footage of that below. As it stands, Osbourne currently has the following dates booked in support of his new album “Ordinary Man“, out February 21st.
