Jona Wright, daughter of Obituary bassist Terry Butler, died at the age of 27 earlier this month after accidentally rolling her car off the Interstate 75 in Florida with her two young sons (ages 6 and 10) inside. All three individuals were wearing their seat belts and alcohol did not play a factor in the crash.
According to a report from Tampabay.com, Wright had allegedly been making ‘aggressive hand gestures’ at another driver and had been attempting to pass them at the time of the crash. The same report also notes that Wright had six previous traffic citations between 2012 and 2014 that included charges of speeding and careless driving. All charges were either dropped or she was acquitted however.
While her two sons made it out with minor injuries, the injuries Jona sustained in crash eventually claimed her life, as she is said to have succumbed to them that night at St. Joseph’s Hospital South in Riverview, FL.
A friend of Wright‘s has since launched this GoFundMe to raise money for her two sons and their future. The two children are expected to stay with their grandparents for the time being.
