2019 is shaping up to be a reflective year for Tom G. Warrior as he has officially announced the formation of Triumph Of Death—an outfit created to play material from his past band Hellhammer‘s brief catalog. Joining him in that endeavor are bassist Mia Wallace (Niryth, The True Endless), guitarist/vocalist Michael Zech (Secrets Of The Moon, Odem Arcarum) and drummer Alessandro Comerio (Forgotten Tomb, The True Endless). Warrior himself commented of the project:
“Hellhammer” will never return and will never be reformed. It is absolutely impossible to reform a band so closely linked to a very specific and unique period in time.
I never considered it, no matter how substantial the offers that were pitched to me over the years. But Hellhammer‘s music exists, and it is an extremely important part of my life’s path. And I would like to play it onstage before my demise.”
Tom‘s former Hellhammer/Celtic Frost bandmate Martin Ain passed away last year. Thus far Triumph Of Death have been booked for the June 21st stop of the ‘Hellfest Open Air‘ in Clisson, France.
In the more immediate future, Tom‘s current band Triptykon will be performing the music of his previous outfit Celtic Frost during the ‘Decibel Beer & Metal Fest: Los Angeles‘, which will take place at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA on December 01st-02nd.
Triptykon will later be joined by the Dutch Metropole Orkest for an orchestral performance of Celtic Frost‘s three-part requiem (“Rex Irae“, “Winter” and a thus far unreleased third part) live during next year’s ‘Roadburn Festival‘. That event is til be held at 013 in Tilburg, NET from April 11th-14th.
