Metallica are preparing to release their own official whiskey, Blackened, which of course takes its name from the opening track of the band’s 1988 album “…And Justice For All“. The group collaborated with master distiller Dave Pickerell on the 90 proof spirit, which goes a step further than the band just licensing their name.
Instead, a proprietary sonic-enhancement system called ‘Black Noise’ is employed to ‘activate’ the whiskey while it matures within black brandy casks. Using a specially designed subwoofer, the whiskey is bombarded by the music of Metallica to increase the wood-flavor interaction.
An initial launch is planned in select markets of the U.S. with a mid-September release in the cards. You can pre-order now over at blackenedwhiskey.com.
