Metallica have shared the following mini-documentary on the ‘Carlson Garage’ that was instrumental to their early career in El Cerrito, CA. The band wrote both “Ride The Lightning” and “Master Of Puppets” in the garage, which has since been torn down. Wood from that garage was salvaged and made into a very special guitar for the band’s frontman/guitarist James Hetfield, which he affectionately refers to as ‘Carl’.

The mini-documentary arrives ahead of this Friday’s (April 13th) remastered re-release of “The $5.98 EP – Garage Days Re-Revisited“. As for how the guitar sounds in action, the band shared the below live performance of “Moth Into Flame” today that was filmed on April 05th during the band’s show in Budapest, Hungary.
