TMZ are reporting more details regarding yesterday’s (July 20th) passing of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. Citing sources in law enforcement, the site state that Bennington took his own life by hanging himself with a belt affixed to a door separating his bedroom from his closet. They further allege that a partially empty bottle of alcohol was located in the room, but there was no evidence of drugs, nor was their a suicide note.
Much has been made of the eerie similarities to Bennington‘s death and that of late Soundgarden/Audioslave, etc. frontman Chris Cornell this past May. TMZ note that both were found to have taken their own lives by hanging themselves from doors, while Bennington took his own life on what would have been Chris Cornell‘s 53rd birthday, July 20th. Bennington performed at Cornell‘s eulogy and was said to have been a close friend.
Bennington‘s death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
