Mastodon will headline a benefit show for suicide prevention non-profit Hope For The Day at the Metro in Chicago, IL on September 09th. 100% of the proceeds from the performance will be donated to the charity. The show will also see the pre-release of a new batch of Mastodon‘s ‘Crack The Skye‘ beer. That Russian imperial coffee stout boasts a hefty 11% ABV and takes its name from the band’s 2009 album.
The album itself drew inspiration from drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor‘s sister Skye, who took her own life at the age of 14. Mastodon teamed with Three Floyds Brewing Co. and Dark Matter Coffee for the brew which will officially be released to the public a day later on September 10th (World Suicide Prevention Day.) A portion of the proceeds from the beer will also be donated Hope For The Day as well.
Brain Tentacles will serve as direct support to Mastodon at the show with Power Mad to open with Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante on drums.
