The twelfth time was the charm for Megadeth, who took home the Grammy tonight for the ‘Best Metal Performance’ for their track “Dystopia“. The awards were handed out tonight, February 12th, as part of a pre-awards ceremony before the big event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. The nomination marked Megadeth‘s twelfth over the years. Other nominees up for the award this year included:
Baroness – “Shock Me”
Gojira – “Silvera”
Korn – “Rotting In Vain”
Periphery – “The Price Is Wrong”

In other news, Gojira didn’t win the ‘Best Rock Album’ award as Cage The Elephant took home that honor. The other nominees for that category included:

Panic! At The Disco – “Death Of A Bachelor”
Weezer – “Weezer”
Disturbed also didn’t manage to nab the award for ‘Best Rock Performance’ for their cover of Simon And Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence“. Instead, David Bowie‘s “Blackstar” received that honor. The other nominees for that category were:
Alabama Shakes – “Joe” (live from ‘Austin City Limits‘)
Beyoncé – “Don’t Hurt Yourself” (feat. Jack White)
