Iron Monkey will return later this year with their first new album since 1998. The band have reformed as a trio with cofounding members J. Rushby on guitars/vocals & S. Watson on bass as well as newcomer S. Briggs (Chaos U.K.) on drums. The trio have entered Moot Group Studios in Nottingham, UK and are recording their new album under Johnny A. Carter (ex-Pitchshifter). Relapse Records have signed the outfit and are preparing that outing for a late summer/early fall release. It is due to feature 8 songs and an undisclosed cover.
Speaking on their return, the band commented:
“We’re older, more cynical, more isolationist. Musically, we’re more aggressive, more focused – a direct assault. We intend to take what is rightfully ours, usurp the scene, then crush its skull.”
If you were unaware, original vocalist Johnny Morrow passed away from heart failure back in 2002.
