Disturbed‘s return in August of last year with the release of their sixth studio album “Immortalized” has resulted in an incredibly successful run. Citing industry metrics shown in the below images, the band stood out as the most played artist throughout 2016 on the active rock radio format. The band’s success was no doubt buoyed by their hit cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence“.
Looking outside of radio, that particular track sits at 147,428,207 plays on the official YouTube upload of the video. Their live performance of the track on ‘Conan‘ also racked up another 37,249,832 views on its YouTube upload. Meanwhile, the song has 91,286,098 streams on Spotify.
The band also took home numerous gold and platinum awards for both “Immortalized” and the above-mentioned cover from around the world this year. Notably their take on “The Sound Of Silence” was certified platinum on June 24th by the RIAA in the United States signifying 1,000,000 copies ‘sold’. Meanwhile, “Immortalized” hit gold in the United States on September 23rd for 500,000 copies ‘sold’.
