Update – April 27th 03:37pm:
The band have now released an official statement regarding the lawsuit, read it here.
Original Story:
TMZ report that Five Finger Death Punch are facing a lawsuit from their label Prospect Park over various concerns. According to TMZ, the band are being accused of “shamelessly attempting to cash in before the anticipated downfall of their addicted bandmate.” That bandmate is identified as frontman Ivan Moody, who has let his indulgences get in the way of a performance before.
According to TMZ, Prospect Park allege in the suit that the band members admitted to rushing out subpar music before: “Ivan does something stupid — dies — goes away to jail.” They’ve also stipulated that the group can’t begin recording a new album prior to June 04th.
The band’s camp have apparently countered the label’s claims, stating that Prospect Park intends to sell off the label and are “desperately trying to use Five Finger Death Punch as leverage.”
The outfit themselves have yet to publicly address the suit, but it appears to be business as usual on the surface, with a co-headlining tour with Shinedown featuring support from Sixx:A.M. & As Lions having just been announced. Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory commented of that run:
“I wanted to give you a brilliant quote about trying to keep rock music alive by assembling bills that can sell out arenas where everyone can have the production rock shows deserve, or bringing out new talented bands and expose them to huge crowds… or about rebuilding a community with the help of rock radio, and donating to good causes while we are at it… but we are so busy doing it that I ran out of quotes.”
$1 from each ticket sold on the tour will go towards various charities, with each band revealing their choice:
