When asked by a fan on Twitter earlier this week if he had been writing lyrics for Tool‘s long-awaited new album, frontman Maynard James Keenan gave a rather blunt, though sadly expected answer. According to Keenan (see below,) he hasn’t been due to the instrumental portion of the songs not yet being ready.
This is of course nothing new for Tool fans, who have been enduring a torturous wait for the follow-up to the group’s 2006 album “10,000 Days“. As Keenan himself briefly commented earlier in the month: “We’ve found a common ground, We just can’t seem to move forward.” It’s not entirely doom and gloom however, the band have overcome some hurdles including a lawsuit and health issues and guitarist Adam Jones has previously confirmed that 20 song ideas are in the works.
@GarmenticA @mjkeenan Haven’t been. When the music is ready, lyrics will flow. No music, no lyrics. Simple.
