Victory Records are suing Streetlight Manifesto for failing to fulfill their four-album contract as well as frontman Tomas Kalnoky releasing solo music through his own company while allegedly still under contract with Victory. The news comes via a report over at Courthousenews.com. Victory also cite Kalnoky‘s production delays, anarchic behavior (encouraging fans to illegally download their album and boycott Victory products and more) as part of their suit.
The label are seeking seeking over $1 million in damages for the group’s refusal to deliver a fourth album, as well as copyright infringement. Victory‘s name has been in the press a lot lately, most recently thanks to a high-profile dispute over royalties with Spotify.
Streetlight Manifesto themselves understandably have a less than glowing opinion regarding label head Tony Brummel and that dispute, posting:
“Ironically, Victory Records hasn’t paid us a cent in royalties in over 2 years. More info soon. #irony #douchenuggets”
