Surrounded By Monsters keyboardist Traci Batson has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. A Gofundme page has been set up to help with her medical costs, with the following offered on her condition:
“A couple of months ago Traci lost her vision over the course of 3 hours. She went to 5 different doctors and spent over $1000.00 trying to find the cause with no luck or answers. 3 days later her vision came back 100% and she brushed if off as a hormone imbalance. A couple of weeks later her back and shoulder started bothering her all the time. Everyday it got a little worse until it became unbearable and she couldn’t sleep or drive her car. Being frustrated at the lack of answers from the previous doctors she went to a new one who discovered in one visit and one MRI that she had Multiple Sclerosis and an advanced case at that.
After being diagnosed and referred to a specialist, 4 MRIs and 1 spinal tap resulting in a finding of 8 lesions on the spinal cord and 4 in her brain they prescribed 9 different prescriptions. One being a shot she has to give herself 3 times a week for life. She has a little over $6,000.00 in bills coming in and has already spent $1,100.00 out of pocket. This is a life long disease with no cure, only treatment to help ease the pain and progression, so the bills aren’t going to stop anytime soon but hopefully the hurting will.”
