Shock rocker Alice Cooper had some fans in actual shock over the weekend at his annual ‘Coopstock‘ fundraising concert in Mesa, AZ. In what appears to be a live debut, the 78-year-old rock icon performed a cover of Nirvana‘s diamond-certified 1991 hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit” during that event. Fan-filmed footage of that rendition — which Cooper dedicated to a late ‘friend’ — has been shared online below.
Cooper‘s backing band recently got a proverbial infusion of some new blood, with 22-year-old British guitarist Anna Cara having stepped in earlier this month. Her predecessor, Nita Strauss, has stepped down from the role for the time being as she prepares to give birth to her first child this summer.
