In the wake of his death this past Tuesday, July 22nd, the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have shared the entire all-star performance from the induction ceremony that was staged for heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne last October. That induction celebrated Osbourne‘s solo works and assembled a deep roster of talent to ring in the honor. Among the players involved were his longtime solo guitarist Zakk Wylde, Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo (himself a veteran of Ozzy‘s backing band), Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan, hard rock legend Billy Idol, multi-platinum country rocker Jelly Roll and more.

While the official performance saw Osbourne himself abstain from singing due to apparent health concerns, behind the scenes footage from rehearsals held for the big night a day prior has been circulating online. Confirming past commentary from Wylde, it finds Osbourne singing his 1991 power ballad, “Mama, I’m Coming Home“. As it stands, that footage captures the penultimate ‘public’ performance Ozzy engaged in prior to his final live sendoff at the ‘Back To The Beginning‘ concert held several weeks ago on July 05th in Birmingham, UK.

As the story goes, Jelly Roll, who fronted the final cover of that track that made it to air during the actual induction ceremony, was absent during the rehearsal. As such, Ozzy himself took over the duties of singing it, with actor/musician Jack Black, who inducted him into the hall, sat by his side.

Osbourne‘s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame last fall was actually his second time making it into the hall. He and his heavy metal pioneering bandmates in Black Sabbath were previously inducted back in 2006.

Osbourne‘s passing was announced earlier this week by his family. He was 76-years-old.
