Following a GRAMMY Award-winning 25 year run together, Mastodon and their vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds parted ways this past March. Since then, Hinds has made his displeasure with his former bandmates known across multiple comments on social media, many of which have been negatively directed towards Mastodon‘s ongoing activities. Now, In one comment made on this post Mastodon shared overnight (June 24th), Hinds publicly condemned his former bandmates in reply to a fan.

Mastodon‘s aforementioned post was made to commemorate the 11th anniversary of their sixth studio album “Once More Round The Sun“. When a fan commented on that post, “‘Halloween‘ is definitely my #1 track on this record definitely gonna miss B. Hinds though”, Hinds himself directly responded, stating, ” I want miss being in a sh*t band with horrible humans ..”

Hinds‘ former bandmates in Mastodon have been a bit more tactful in discussing the split with him, with guitarist Bill Kelliher telling Guitar World this past March:

“What can you say about the legacy of Mastodon’s first 25 years with Brent? It’s been a fun, wild f*cking ride, that’s for sure. We achieved a lot of things that I never in a million years would have imagined. There’s been Grammys, touring with our heroes, like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, and Tool. I cherish all of that.

Like a marriage, sometimes people grow apart, and they get interested in other things. We wish nothing but the best for Brent in chasing his dreams. You know, it’s amazing that we made it 25 years with the four of us. I mean, it’s like being married to three other dudes, traveling the world, trying to stay the course, and having everybody agree.

That we managed to do it this long, I feel like that’s a feat in itself. You could never replace any of us because we [are the] the sum of four parts.”

The group have since enlisted guitarist Nick Johnston as a touring replacement for Hinds and appear to have recently began recording their first album without Hinds.
