Pig Pen, the new hardcore collective fronted by celebrity chef, actor (‘The Bear‘, etc.) Matty Matheson, have launched their debut single “Mental Mentality“. The outfit, who made their live debut last month, have aligned with Flatspot Records and will be putting out their debut album “Mental Madness” on June 27th.
Outside of Matheson, the group also consist of Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire, etc. on guitars/backing vocals, Daniel Romano on guitars, his brother Ian Romano on drums, and bassist Tommy Major. The band wrote this effort three years ago and self-produced it. Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Soulfly) was brought on to mix. Matheson said that the record lyrically centers around “mental health shit”, adding:
“You can be having a beautiful day, surrounded by friends, and your brain can continuously ruin it. No matter how good or bad your life is, you can still hate yourself. I’ve got to ask myself why am I feeling the ways I’m feeling?”
