Matt Pinfield is on the road to recovery after suffering a massive stroke on January 06th of this year. Pinfield has enjoyed a lengthy tenure as media and radio personality in the rock and metal world, from his time on MTV through to hosting ‘Farmclub.com‘ and numerous industry-related positions since.
Word of Pinfield‘s health situation first emerged in late January, as it was revealed that his daughter was seeking a temporary conservatorship over his accounts, citing concerns of his girlfriend’s intentions for the funds. In a statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter, the 63-year-old revealed that he has been released from ICU after emerging from a coma in late February. He remains in a rehabilitation center in the Los Angeles, CA area where he continues his recovery process.
He stated:
“Guys, I’m alive. I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months. Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again.”
Pinfield also shared gratitude for his daughter sticking by his side during his hospitalization, stating, “She’s the one who saved my life. She protected me.” He also admitted that he suffered a close call, fighting pneumonia and being placed on a ventilator.
His statement further made mention that he has retained his often touted encyclopedic knowledge of music, and was able to quote lyrics from Procol Harum‘s “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” post-coma.
