Following weeks of controversy over allegations of stolen song ideas, Obscura‘s new album “A Sonication” has arrived. This opus serves as the second entry in a conceptual trilogy from the German progressive technical death metal band that began with their previous effort, “A Valediction“.

Surfacing online today (February 07th) alongside the album is the below music video for the song “In Solitude“, the visuals for which were once again overseen by Mirko Witzki (Caliban, Arch Enemy).

Obscura mastermind Steffen Kummerer commented of “A Sonication” making its way out into the hands of fans:

“With A Sonication our seventh full length album sees the light of day, and we can’t be more proud of the record and how it turned out. The overall introverted, almost melancholic vibe and pace matches perfectly with the theme of the second album of our ongoing trilogy that started a few years back, releasing A Valediction in 2021. The fragile and human touch, featuring edges and dynamics back to back, turned into a unique album to be heard best with a good system or classy headphones. Obscura will embark on a relentless touring schedule covering the next years. Listen to the record, and see you at a venue near you.”

The group’s upcoming touring activities include a European/UK run with Skeletal Remains & Gorod, followed by the newly announced North American ‘Shred Fest‘ tour. The latter will see Obscura sharing stages with Atheist, Origin, Decrepit Birth and Fractal Universe.
