Oceans Of Slumber‘s cover of Chris Isaak‘s gold-certified 1989 hit “Wicked Game” is now available to stream online. The aforementioned Texan progressive doom metal band will have this rendition included on their sixth studio album, “Where Gods Fear To Speak“. Season Of Mist have plans to release that opus on September 13th through Season Of Mist.
The group had originally intended to cover Roy Orbison‘s “Crying” on this album, but ultimately decided to go in a different direction. Drummer Dobber Beverly commented:
“When we were in Colombia, I heard a club remix of ‘Wicked Game‘ while out at a restaurant. It was so bad that I needed to go and make things right in my head.”
He further added of this literal last minute addition to the record:
“We’ve taken the raw and heavier direction of our last two albums and elevated it to the scale of a blockbuster IMAX movie. Our cover of ‘Wicked Game‘ is the song that plays over the end credits.”
