AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams has revealed his plans to retire from the band, telling Gulfshorelife.com:
“It’s been what I’ve known for the past 40 years, but after this tour I’m backing off of touring and recording. Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil and now with Brian, it’s a changed animal. I feel in my gut it’s the right thing.”
It’s not a surprising decision to make given the uncertainty and volatility he mentions above, which includes guitarist Malcolm Young stepping down from the band due to being diagnosed with dementia, drummer Phil Rudd being let go after some highly questionable behavior and the sentencing that followed, plus frontman Brian Johnson currently being unable to tour at the risk of permanent hearing loss.
