Having received a radio premiere yesterday, a video for Gone Is Gone ‘s debut track “Violescent” has now been released. The band feature an impressive roster of musicians that includes:
Vocals/bass – Troy Sanders (Mastodon)
Guitars – Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age, etc.)
Guitars/keyboards – Mike Zarin
Drums – Tony Hajjar (At The Drive-In/Sparta)
Despite their stature, the band don’t subscribe to being labeled a supergroup, as Sanders said in a Reddit AMA yesterday, April 20th:
“…It is annoying when you are labeled as something you feel you are not. We do not perch high above the masses on thrones made of golden marble, nor do we feel as if we’re better than you. Plus, our thrones are made of recycled newspaper and they are on the floor….. where our dogs pee.”
The band’s self-titled debut EP will be released on July 08th through their own Rise Records imprint, Black Dune Records. They will make their live debut at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles, CA on April 27th. Speaking of “Violescent“, Sanders offered of the lyrical content:
“Calming the inner beast and creating separation between yourself and the caged animal, hungry with destructive intent. Bridging negative experiences of the past into a new and colorful light, becoming your ‘violescent self’. Desiring to better your personal environment and those who surround you, you must first better yourself.”
