A new interview with Slayer‘s longtime booking agent Scott Sokol of Pinnacle Entertainment over at Billboard.biz has word that new music from Slayer is still in the works. When asked directly about that, Sokol replied:
“They’re definitely working on new music. More things will be revealed in the coming weeks. “
The interview mainly focused on the bands forthcoming North American tour with Gojira and 4ARM. That trek is expected to see the band properly honor their fallen guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who passed away earlier this year. Speaking on that, Sokol offered:
“I believe during the European shows they have a picture or some footage, and they play a bunch of songs that were Jeff’s favorites or that he was heavily involved with. But that was done a little bit on the fly, because all of the touring and Jeff’s passing were coming so close together that they did what they could do in the short amount of time that they had. In the U.S., I think you’re going to see something different and much more thought out, simply because they have the time.”
A new album from Slayer has of course been slowly progressing since about 2011. It has been met with numerous setbacks over the years—which along with Hanneman‘s untimely death—include other personnel changes and scheduling conflicts.
