The details have been revealed for Universal‘s coming extensive 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana‘s “In Utero“. In addition to standard formats, the effort will be released as a 3xCD/1-DVD “Super Deluxe Edition”, details for which can be found below.
A remastered version of the album itself will comprise the first disc with original mixes by Steve Albini and Scott Litt. An unspecified new ‘2013 mix’ of the album will be featured on the second disc alongside various demo material and rarities. The third CD will contain live audio taken from the groups December 13th, 1993 “Live & Loud” concert at Pier 48 in Seattle, WA.
That show is also available on the accompanying DVD alongside European touring footage and an extended cut of the “Heart-Shaped Box” music video. A reproduced four page note from Steve Albini to the band written prior to the albums recording sessions will also be included along with reproductions of lyrics handwritten by the groups late frontman Kurt Cobain. Bobcat Goldthwait—who opened some “In Utero” shows—also provides some liner notes.
