Taproot have been announced as the first artist to be publicly confirmed for the 2023 edition of the annual ‘Blue Ridge Rock Festival‘ in Alton, VA. The Michigan-based nü-metal/alternative metal outfit has been dormant on the live front since ringing in their 20th anniversary back in 2017.

Vocalist/guitarist Stephen Richards has confirmed that himself, bassist Phil Lipscomb and drummer Jared Montague will be involved with the show. Meanwhile, it would appear that Taylor Roberts of Riding With Killers will be taking on the lead guitar duties for this live return.

In a statement issued tonight (November 28th), the Blue Ridge Rock Festival‘ organizers offered:

“We are stoked to announce that Taproot will be reuniting at Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2023! The Nu-Metal outfit has not toured since 2013, but will return to the Stage for 1 Night Only at Blue Ridge 2023. Taproot first broke out in the early 2000s with Gold-certified records “Gift” and “Welcome“, as well as back to back Ozzfest Tours.

This is the first of several reunions and special performances already on-tap in our 2023 Lineup. Aside from all of the artists you have voted for, we are working hard to deliver you reunions and album plays that you would not normally have the chance to experience…”

Richards, who himself has been spearheading a new Taproot album on his own across the past few year or so, had the following to say about the reunion:

The 2023 ‘Blue Ridge Rock Festival‘ will take place September 07th-10th with more details available at blueridgerockfest.com.
