Marilyn Manson Discusses Bone-Shattering Onstage Injury, Reschedules The Rest Of U.S. Tour

Marilyn Manson has revealed the extent of the injuries he suffered after being crushed by a stage prop during his September 30th performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY. The accident shattered the fibula in his right leg in two places and required surgery that included a plate and 10 screws, plus one screw through his ankle, to properly heal. He’s also currently confined to a hard cast as well.

The night prior to the NYC show, Manson fell while climbing off stage, injuring his ankle in the process. As a result of the injuries he has now been forced to reschedule much of his U.S. tour.

He said to Yahoo! Music of the accident: “I only recently watched the video of it. I can see how it could look terrifying. It was terrifying for me, because the truss was not secured properly.” He continued: “I wasn’t trying to climb it. It started to fall and I tried to push back and I didn’t get out the way in time. I’m not sure what I hit my head on, but it did fall onto my leg and break the fibula in two places. The pain was excruciating.”

He later commented of the series of injuries that sidelined him from touring:

“I think it was possibly the whole nature, God, whatever it might be — someone was trying to put a stop to things. If you believe in one thing, you gotta believe in the other power. I don’t know if it was my excitement and disregard for being safe in the conventional sense — like I ever have been. You get me onstage and I just get so excited.”

In light of the injuries the rest of his planned U.S. tour has now been rescheduled for January, sans his November 05th ‘Ozzfest Meets Knotfest‘ appearance, which will go ahead as planned. He will however move ahead with his European/UK tour in November. Dates for that run include:
