A seemingly cryptic tweet made by Six Feet Under frontman Chris Barnes today (March 08th) may be an indirect shot at Suicide Silence. Earlier this morning Barnes tweeted:

While it could just be innocuous commentary on the music industry, it coincidentally arrived alongside today’s news that Suicide Silence‘s “Doris” has once again topped the ‘Devil’s Dozen on SiriusXM‘s ‘Liquid Metal‘ station for three weeks running. “Doris” of course features a guest turn from ‘Liquid Metal‘ progammer/DJ, José Mangin.

Given the sluggish first week sales of Suicide Silence‘s latest release and the near relentless controversy surrounding the album and the band’s decision to move on from the deathcore genre (the official YouTube upload of “Doris” currently has 29,887 dislikes and 16,620 likes,) some have found it questionable that the song is readily winning over a wide audience.

Perhaps as evidenced by the tweet above, Barnes is one of them. Then again, it could just be a case of reading into something too much. Maybe “Doris” is in fact finding a home in the hearts of ‘Liquid Metal‘ listeners.
