Eagles Of Death Metal Rumored To Return To The Stage In Paris This Weekend With U2

Billboard.com are reporting that the Eagles Of Death Metal are being tipped to join U2 for an encore performance during U2‘s December 06th set at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France. Drummer Josh Homme (also of Queens Of The Stone Age) will apparently be in attendance at that performance. The site are also reporting rumors that the Eagles Of Death Metal will resume their postponed European tour in February.

The Eagles Of Death Metal‘s last performance took place on November 13th at Le Bataclan in Paris, France. Several armed terrorists stormed the venue mid-set and began shooting members of those in attendance, ultimately killing 89. The band themselves recently recounted the tragic events that transpired that night in a gripping interview.

As to why the band would return to the stage with U2, the band’s singer Bono was in the city during the attacks. At the time he offered the band new phones and usage of their private jet. As Bono told the The New York Times:

“…We had a plane, which we put at the Eagles’ use if they wanted it, but they found another way. The best thing we could do for our fellow musicians was to buy them phones.”

“I spoke to Julian [Dorio] and to Jesse [Hughes]. But that was the best thing, Jesse said, just getting the phones to be texting and all the stuff that you do — social media — to find out what’s going on. Their phones were in the venue.

Jesse took me through every moment. They really need proper counseling, though — not from a well-meaning Irish rock star. Because post-traumatic stress disorder is a real issue for people who go through these things. They’re going to come through fine, but it was pretty bad.”
