TripSwitch
- Deleterious
Tripswitch come from the unlikely location of Rural Lincolnshire, England
where you're more likely to be found wearing Wellington boots than adidas
trainers. Despite this apparent obstacle of small town and lack of appropriate
venues the band have still managed support slots with the likes of One Minute
Silence, Raging Speedhorn and Skindred. This 6 track demo EP
is a welcome introduction to a band that are just starting to find their
way.
With both high impact and melodic vocals there
are hints of early Fear Factory likeness, particularly with the sporadic
double bass pedal drumming and elements of sampling. The band also share
elements of death metal and nu metal and mould the two together to create a
brutal sound. With the six songs on offer, each has its own merits in terms of
structure and focus yet i found it hard to become captivated by the music and it
was easy to lose interest. The more aggressive vocals are definitely a key asset
to the band yet some of the songs by nature feel dull in the way that they are
sung and I feel some of this comes down to the production, yet with a little
work on the more melodic, emotional vocals we would have a much more rounded
effort that would enable them to strike a chord with the
listener. Once the band iron
out their minor faults and teething problems we will begin to see great songs
carved from the foundations already in place.
