Graduating to the Prosthetic roster with "Bloodlust", the latest batch of raging metal birthed by Through The Eyes Of The Dead sees yet another North American based metalcore act spiking their sound with hefty doses of that which is Swedish. But where most of their peers sound cut and paste in such an assimilation, this outfit actually exercise an amount of competence and thus are able to remain outright ferocious.
Twin guitar attacks, a hard hitting double-kick driven drum performance and wrenched vocals are all in attendance as the band rip through some shred heavy numbers that find themselves bookended by a few traditional chunky metalcore breakdowns. Entirely technically proficient, the musicianship is menacing and the aggression barely relents, making for a fast-paced battering that shows little mercy.
But while there is nothing in particular wrong about the band set forth on this record, there is also nothing that immediately stands out. Repeated listens are likely to yield any memorable characteristics and aside from a couple of stitches of faint bruises, the listener is unlikely to walk away with anything to remember it by. A talented band to be sure, but with their individuality still buried, these dead will not rise anytime soon.
