Stink!#Bug - Dynamic Domination

Stink!#Bug is a very eclectic band, I honestly can't say I could classify them into one genre. The term industrial could fit loosely but this band combines alot more. All together the CD at times can sound like (hed)pe, early Ministry, Ultraspank and Coal Chamber and that's just for starters. The band siphon's a definite wide array of influences into one cohesive sound. You have the turntable wizardry and the seamless transition from heavy to hip hop beats of (hed)pe, The anguished flurry of vocals similar to early Coal Chamber and the driving electronic grind of early Ministry and Ultraspank. At most times the music varies between harsh raspy distorted vocals, the basic drop-d tuned guitar and a very precise almost electronic sounding drumbeat with some rumbling bass hit's and turntables thrown in. Many humorous samples are also fused into the tracks including Darth Vader and what sounds to be porno movie quotes. The album is very aggressive with alot of changes in parts in individual songs which most of are done very well all the while keeping the appearance of a seamless melody. But the problem is with the album's age, it feels very dated, it would have been very ahead of it's time in 1995 but at this point in time it feels a bit out of place. Another thing that kind of alienates me from this release is a tendency for the song's to not do that much to stand apart from each other, it's almost like one big long song with little notice given to creating anything substantially different from the next. Don't get me wrong here the CD and band is still very good at what they do, but for an album to really stand out there should be a somewhat moderate change in style or flow between songs something which doesn't really show up to brightly on this release. All in all it's a strong CD but there's a lack of creativity between songs which really dampens the power of the release and what this band could be doing.
