With the deadly force of a dirty bomb, Saviours (who feature members of Yaphet Kotto within their ranks), unleash "Warship", a gritty dirt-laden romp through metal that at times can sound like Eyehategod and High On Fire having a turf war inside a water bong.
Big galloping stoner riffs launch out with the requisite head banging following in close pursuit. Cavernous sounding drums, a bit of Kyuss-like desert rock experimentalism and some depraved slithery vocals later, and "Warship" has officially crashed the harbor. Elements of noise metal clearly make their presence felt and with a vicious outlook instituted, the band effectively side step the usual stoner rock dirges and take the style somewhere far more twisted.
The depravity present within the vocals is perhaps what most elevates the band above many of their peers, and the combination of them with chugging groove-laden riffage and a competent rhythm section makes for some really enjoyable moments. Sadly, the song writing can be a bit lazy at times with the band sounding as though they aren't pushing themselves to the limit; but even so, the Saviours should still have no problem bringing redemption to those lucky enough to experience their craft.
