With "God Save Us" Remembering Never have mastered all of the aspects of modern day metalcore to the point where they practically punctuate their verses and choruses with breakdowns rather than commas and periods. Raw, snarling circle pit inducing frenzies are abound here and are about as smashmouth as they come.
Led by a political slant within the lyrics, which also conjure up such vicious imagery as "we dance on the ashes and piss on the bodies", the band show little mercy. This fits well with the length of their songs, which only four out of fourteen dare to tread past the three minute mark. However, for such an aggressive and unrelenting performance, Remembering Never remain trapped by practically every scene convention.
The drums are impressively pummeling, the chugging riffs can take a pound of flesh with each downstroke and the vocals stand tall and weather it all with savage conviction. Yet for all their determination and brute force, the songwriting is painfully average, suffering from lack of creativity and breakdown overdose.
Barring the out of character melodic vocals that appear on "Runner Up In A Shit-Eating Contest", the album is pretty much another typical beatdown which will leave the listener dazed and bloodied. The only problem is, with such a workman-like performance, they won't remember anything about the fight rather aside from the end result.
