Five Pointe 0 - Five Pointe 0

Five Pointe 0 are at the forefront in a new breed of neo metal fusing convulsing wounded vocals, intricate programming and sampling with inertia inducing intensity and a fresh new sound. The music isn't reminiscent of any band as a whole in particular, although some pieces could validly bethought to be influenced by a handful of bands. An untamed explosion of raw musical wrath is what this band casts down upon all those who listen destroying anything caught in its path. Vocals contrast each other well with grim aggression that unravels into calmed spoken word and verses that bleed with emotion like blood from a fresh wound. Truly a highlight of the disc, the range of vocals from dark death metal howls and growls to tribal chants and full on aggro styled singing consistently grip tight, guiding the listener through the immense layered musical labyrinth the band creates. Guitars courtesy of Sharon and Eric weave together like a well knit blanket of sound, streaming between effect dripping distortion to ambient squeaking backed with building riffs a fine blend between the two is constantly achieved. Impressive guitars is just one of the standout elements put to good use on this release and the attention put to detail is a strong suit the band holds close and lays out well. Bass is possibly the least audible instrument in the mix, giving lots of free space and pauses it tends to end up following along with the drums with a main arsenal of percussive downtuned thuds and slaps, although a few ringing notes are put to use. Drums are finely played, well placed and tuned to a pitch and tone that fits seamlessly within the music, alot of snare hits and highat work show up throughout the tracks as well as a some double kick and the rest of what you would expect to flow through music corrupted with such combustible ingredients. Keyboards by Casey are perhaps the most genius factor in this bands incandescent music, not played typically they focus more on programming but with a flair that doesn't favor industrial instead it's a very unique and innovative concept. Large bass hits and mesmeric electronic patterns grow and decay throughout the song's, giving ample room to the other instrument's while at the same time heightening the songs progression. The sheer attention to detail this group has is what edges them over the top, the delicate mixing of guitars switching back and forth from ear to ear, the winding yet steadily building progression of songs, the overdubs and backing vocals and hallowed guitars riffs left to die out plus the elaborate and awe inspiring programming combined together make for some of the most immaculate music created in past few years. Such immersive song structure can let the listener flow freely through winding paths and in the next instant constrict and suffocate them with demented fury. Standout tracks would be every one of them that are included on this CD, all are elegantly crafted and each shows a different side and feel of the band. Five Pointe 0 are one of the sickest groups to emerge in recent memory, their unbridled rage, intoxicatingly melodic elements and meticulous song composition showcase talent that shines like the sun. This group has successfully torn out the pages of the text book of cliche and furiously rewrote the ideas of music on the jagged half torn pages, painstakingly crafted and brutally unrelenting this CD is a must have.
