World Under Blood Finish Recording New Album “Tactical”

    16.03.10 @ 12:31 pm Posted by wookubus

World Under Blood (CKY, Divine Heresy) have wrapped up recording their new album “Tactical” and are plotting a summer release for it through Nuclear Blast. As previously reported, covers of Megadeth’s “Wake Up Dead” and Malevolent Creation’s “Alliance Or War” were tracked during the sessions and are expected to be used as b-sides. For now, band frontman Deron Miller had the following to offer on the sessions:

“Tracking for our first record for Nuclear Blast is complete! I flew out to James Murphy’s home studio to track the rest of the vocals and it was a very gratifying experience. I was in total awe of his vinyl collection and his cat Sasha, but most of all I was enamored by the professionalism and discipline he instilled during these sessions that really put me in my place.

James really brought out the best in me and having only had 2 producers in my entire career, I can say that I’m lucky to be continually working with James Murphy and Chad Ginsburg. I’ve realized that in the end, the only way to have a top-notch producer with an amazing ear is to be working with someone who has a musical history and a musical ability themselves. Not just some overpaid name/reputation dude that leaves Post-It notes on Pro-Tools monitors. Those days are over.

The goal for the 8 original tunes that ended up on this album was that they would all be super fast, extremely brutal and harsh, catchy, melodic, and occasionally offensive & disturbing. I also had to make sure that the entire band was satisfied with their work. Tim Yeung is easily the most impressive drummer in the world.

He thinks that some kid is going to come along and dethrone him speed-wise but as far as writing, arrangements, creative input and immediate knowledge of song structure he will never be beat. It’s like the guy can read my mind. I present a somewhat intricate song to him and 50 minutes later we’re demoed and done. Luke Jaeger flew through his solos in less than 8 hours. Murphy and I were thinking the same thing, ‘these solos have to be incredible and memorable’, not just finger flailing virtuoso garbage . He nailed them all. I wanted the best musicians for the job and i think we got it.

Personally, I love this record and am very pleased with it. It’s probably the first album I’ve worked on where I truly don’t care what anyone else thinks. I’ll be blasting it for years and I’m confident you will too. Either way, we made a great record and i want to thank the band and Nuclear Blast worldwide for the opportunity. Also, the fans all over the world for their amazing support and encouragement. See you on tour!”

World Under Blood Reveal Track Listing For New Album

    27.02.10 @ 12:49 pm Posted by wookubus

World Under Blood frontman Deron Miller (also of CKY) recently checked in with the following update regarding the bands forthcoming Nuclear Blast debut.

“tonight i have finalized the song titles for our first album! i have finished the lyrics for all of the songs; i have a decent idea for what i am going to do vocally next week…some of what i have done is pretty disturbing…but i am satisfied. i fly out to tampa tomorrow to meet up with the legendary mr. murphy to complete this album once and for all!

this album is brutal. these days, a lot of bands are judged by their technicality, and often that is seen as “heavier”. i agree to an extent, but the only problem is that the more technical a band is lately, the more that specific “song” LOSES. we could have done a record that was 20 notes per second, because every member of World Under Blood is capable of that…but on this record, we pretty much said…”lets make sure the songs are amazing”…i know they are…i have made sure and WILL make sure that they all turn out the way they were meant to be and certainly nothing less.

my only regret is that i mentioned this project too prematurely…some of you have been waiting for this since as early as november 2006…back then i was very ambitious and i expected to have it out in due time…apparently in november 2006 i believed that there were many more hours than 24 in a single day. plain and simple, i was excited to release a metal record. finally….
this is the tracklisting, but NOT in order.

    1. Dead and Still In Pain
    2. Under the Autumn Low
    3. A God Among the Waste
    4. Pyro-Compulsive
    5. I Can’t Stand His Name
    6. Into the Arms of Cruelty
    7. Revere’s Tears
    8. Purgatory Dormitory
    9. Wake Up Dead

    *10. Alliance or War…(bonus)”

As seen above, the sessions for the album yielded covers of Megadeth’s “Wake Up Dead” and Malevolent Creation’s “Alliance Or War“.

World Under Blood Frontman Checks In With Album Update

    19.02.10 @ 1:41 pm Posted by wookubus

World Under Blood’s Deron Miller (also of CKY) has checked in with the following update regarding the bands upcoming Nuclear Blast debut:

“…Just finishing up lyrics for a few of the songs. they’re turning out great. i started writing them weeks ago, and i realized that the work i was doing was awful, so i scrapped them all and got re-focused…im very satisfied now. the 3 tentative WUB titles i have right now are “Revere’s Tears“…about a guy that discovers the cure for cancer, is found dead…but then returns of course.

I Can’t Stand His Name“, and “Purgatory Dormitory” are the others and i cant wait until this record comes out. “Knife Beats Gun” and “Stab Happy” are long gone…they were drunken concepts haha. i’ve been listening to the new Overkill CD A LOT and the song “Ironbound” has been on repeat since i got it.

you have to go get this record its fucking amazing. the best metal record of the last decade for sure. i talked to risha and he is doing well. his personal problems are ironed out…he is still with us. im flying to florida on the 28th to finish this album. it will be done tracking on march 5th so help me god. i guarantee nothing but my best always…”

World Under Blood Confirm Label Status, Aim For July Release

    02.02.10 @ 2:08 pm Posted by wookubus

World Under Blood have confirmed that despite the rumors they are in fact still signed with Nuclear Blast. The band, which feature CKY frontman/guitarist Deron Miller and Divine Heresy drummer Tim Yeung, have been moving ahead with a July release for their new album “Tactical“.

Covers of Megadeth’s “Wake Up Dead” and Malevolent Creation’s “Alliance Or War” were tracked during the album sessions, for which mixing is currently underway. For now, Miller had the following to offer:

“february sucks. its my least favorite month for more than a couple of reasons…best thing to do is keep busy. i will be flying to philly to work on some killer CKY tunes and then off to Miami to do vocals for “Tactical”…im listening to ruff mixes of the album now without vocals and i must say im ecstatic…im very excited to put some voices to these sickening arrangements.

its my most intricate and physically challenging work so far and working with james murphy is always a blast. i never laugh as hard as i do when he gets mad at pro-tools…has to be seen to be believed! contrary to several rumors, yes we are still working with Nuclear Blast worldwide…they expect nothing but the best and thats what they’re getting and they know it.

im headed to the office on wednesday to start up our facebook page…yea i know, facebook? its gayer than 5 adam lamberts but all i can say is that its embarassing for people, but great for bands. japan was a fucking blast by the way…they eat gore over there…maybe you didnt know that. tentacles, legs, heads, eyes…all of it…nothings wasted.

the guys in IN FLAMES are fucking great, and it was really cool to reconnect with atreyu after all these years…we all talked a lot of shit on eachother, but the older you get the more you realize that hating everything isnt as cool as it used to be. we want TACTICAL out by july…im working hard to make it happen.

    better safe than sorry,

    deron

World Under Blood Finishing Up Tracking “Tactical”

    14.01.10 @ 12:52 pm Posted by wookubus

World Under Blood (CKY, Divine Heresy) have completed tracking their new album “Tactical“. Band mastermind Deron Miller had the following to say about it:

james murphy, luke jaeger and i have finished recording all the music for the first World Under Blood record. i had a lot of fun hanging out with those guys and recording at my house for a week. it looks like there will be 9 songs on the record. 8 originals and 1 Megadeth cover, and japan will get a bonus track…a cover of Malevolent Creation’s “Alliance or War“. plus i have some interlude ideas that i want to include. these are musical passages that have been on the back burner for a while that i really like. i dont know yet how many i will include.

all thats left to do is some vocals and some atmospheric keyboard parts. im really excited about getting it out. it’s been a very challenging record to make. i made sure that i wrote songs that pushed the envelope of our abilities. tim yeung did it with ease…so did luke. i, on the other hand enjoyed the process of trying to “play it perfectly”. i couldnt be happier with how its turning out. there will be video clips up soon that mr. murphy took during the sessions.”

Meanwhile, rumors have been circulating lately that the band have already parted ways with label Nuclear Blast whom they signed with last May. Though no official word has been released on the matter as of yet, the bands official Myspace profile currently lists them as seeking a label.
