Thrice Commit To Summer Touring Plans, Add More Dates

    04.05.10 @ 9:51 pm Posted by wookubus

Thrice have decided to forge ahead with their summer touring plans, band drummer Riley Breckenridge issued the following statement on the matter:

“Since the situation with Dustin’s Dad arose and we had to cancel the remainder of our tour with Manchester Orchestra and O’Brother, there have been many questions regarding the status of our summer headline tour. Today we got word from Dustin that he’s good to go, and as a result, we will be continuing with our plans to do that tour in it’s entirety.

It has been an indescribably difficult seven months for all of us. In September, my and Ed’s Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in his throat and tongue and has since undergone seven weeks of chemo and radiation, and a major surgery three weeks ago to remove the remaining tumors. No more than two weeks after my Dad’s diagnosis in September, Teppei’s Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and passed away in January. And most recently, Dustin’s Dad’s diagnosis and surgery last week. It’s just been relentless.

We really appreciate the support, positive thoughts, and understanding you’ve shown us in person or via the comments on this blog as we’ve dealt with all of this and had to play shows without Teppei late last year & this January, or cancel this past tour. Thankfully, at this time we can focus on healing our folks at home while we share music with you on the road. I don’t think they’d want it any other way.

So with that said, we’ll see you guys this Summer. Tour dates and tickets are available here, with more dates being announced soon. Keep sending positive thoughts and/or prayers in the the direction of Mr. Kensrue and my Pops, and hold fast hope.”

Dates for the trek run as follows:

June 03rd San Francisco, CA – The Regency Ballroom
June 04th Portland, OR – The Hawthorne Theater
June 05th Seattle, WA – The King Cat Theater
June 07th Edmonton, AB – The Starlite Room
June 08th Calgary, AB – MacEwan Ballroom
June 09th Saskatoon, SK – Louis’ Pub

With Bad Veins and The Dig:

June 11th St. Paul, MN – Station 4

Thrice Guitarist To Sit Out UK Tour, Offers Statement

    13.01.10 @ 12:36 pm Posted by wookubus

Thrice guitarist/keyboardist Teppei Teranishi will be missing the bands impending UK tour. He will be temporarily replaced by Nate Patterson of The Dear Hunter on the trek. Teranishi offered the following statement about his recent absence from the band in a live capacity:

    “Hey people,
I regretfully won’t be able to make it to the UK with the rest of the band for this upcoming run. As most of you who keep up with us know, I had to fly home for a few days during our last headline run due to a “family emergency”. I guess I never actually explained what was going on…my mom was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in September and her condition took a turn for the worse during the tail end of that tour.

Since then, her condition continued to decline and she had been living in our house with my wife and two kids, receiving hospice care for the last month or so. She finally passed away several days ago which is why I won’t be able to leave for the tour. There’s a whole lot of things involved in wrapping up a person’s life, not to mention I really need to be here for my family, especially my kids, who lost their beloved “baba”.

It has been an absolutely insane couple months for my family and I, but I’m glad that we were able to be there 100% for my mother and that she was able to leave this world surrounded by security and love. She was the single most important person of my life and played an integral role in my kids’ lives as well. It’s incredibly unfortunate that our time with her in this life has been cut short, but I know that she is in a much better place now and I take great comfort in that.

Thank you all very much for showing your love and support when I had to step out of the tour a couple months ago. I showed my mom all the prayers and well wishes left on the comments and it actually made her well up. I’ll be back with the guys after this tour. Oh, and our good friend Nate from The Dear Hunter will be stepping in (again) for me, this time for the whole set. A HUGE thanks to him for stepping up to the plate again. What a guy! Thanks again everyone, and I’ll see you all again soon.

    I love you mom.
    Teppei

Thrice’s Video For “In Exile” Premieres Online

    26.11.09 @ 1:29 pm Posted by wookubus

Thrice’s new video for their track “In Exile” has premiered online and can be seen below. The video was shot with director Josh Stern (Autopilot Off).

  • Thrice plan to premiere their new video for their track “In Exile” online via their official MySpace Page tomorrow, Thursday, November 26th. The video was directed by Josh Stern (Autopilot Off). In related news, the band recently performed an in-studio live set for www.shockhound.com which can now be seen below.

The set finds the band playing their tracks “All The World Is Mad“, “The Weight“, “In Exile“, “At The Last” and “Beggars“.

  • Thrice guitarist/keyboardist Teppei Teranishi has been forced to temporarily step down from the band to attend to a family emergency. The band offered the following statement on the matter:

“Teppei had to leave the tour last night due to a family emergency, and will not be playing with us for the next few shows (and possibly the rest of the tour.) We fully understand and support his decision to do so, and hope that you’ll be understanding as well.

He started this tour knowing that this would be a possibility, and toughed it out for as long as he possibly could. Please send as many positive thoughts as you can muster in his, and his family’s direction.

The good news is that we have a few friends out here on tour who have stepped up, learned a few songs a piece, and will be joining us on stage to enable us to get through a full set, and help us get through this difficult time. The tour will continue as planned. It’ll just be a little different.

Thanks for your understanding and support during this time. We appreciate it.”
