Far frontman Jonah Matranga and guitarist Shaun Lopez recently performed an intimate acoustic rendition of the title track to their new album, “At Night We Live“, you can find the footage below. The song itself is dedicated to Deftones bassist Chi Cheng who has been left ailing since a November 2008 car crash. “At Night We Live” will see a May 18th release date through Vagrant.
Far frontman Jonah Matranga looks to be preparing a logo dispute against Jennifer Lopez over a logo she has been using similar to his own. The effort will be the bands first since their 1998 outing, “Water & Solutions“.
Far guitarist Shaun Lopez recently met with Filter frontman Richard Patrick to discuss working together in the future. It is not yet known if the potential pairing would see Lopez in the producers chair or the two musicians collaborating together for a new project however. Lopez offered the following on matter via Twitter:
“Met with Richard Patrick from Filter today. Hopefully going to make some music together soon. Hope so, dude can definitely SAAANGGG.”

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno recently sat down with Spin.com to discuss the bands upcoming new album, their shelved outing “Eros“, new side projects and more.
Highlights of the interview include word that the Deftones‘ new album is now eyeing a May release and will feature the tracks “Rocket Skates” and “Nylons And Suspenders“, among others.
However, perhaps most interesting is Moreno discussing his new project The Holy Ghost with Shaun Lopez of Far fame. Moreno elaborated on the project, saying:
“Most recently I have The Holy Ghost, which I’m doing with my buddy Shaun Lopez from the band Far. He lives a couple blocks away from me, so I go over to his studio a few nights a week and work on this electro record. Annie Hardy from Giant Drag has done a couple vocals on this project, too.”

Far will be releasing a limited edition 7″ picture disc overseas on November 30th for their cover of Ginuwine’s “Pony“. The b-side of the release will feature an acoustic version of the title track which was performed at San Francisco, CA’s “Live 105“. More details, including audio samples, can be found here.

The Deftones were once again joined on stage by a number of their peers for the second of their two benefit concerts thrown for band bassist Chi Cheng at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA yesterday, November 20th.
Confirmed guests include members of Suicidal Tendencies, Children Of Bodom, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Metallica, while the group also were joined by System Of A Down’s Shavo Odadjian and Daron Malakian for collaborative covers of the latters “Toxicity” and “Aerials“.

The band had previously revealed “At Night We Live” to be the title of a song written in tribute to Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who has been sidelined with extensive medical issues following a car crash last November.
