Along with the likes of Failure and Sunny Day Real Estate, Far were considered one of the more influential outfits to emerge from the darkly emotive alternative direction post hardcore took in the late 90’s. Following their original split in 1999, the group splintered off into a number of projects which while certainly earnest in intent, largely failed to really make a dent – so much so that the band are probably perhaps best known by the youth of today for their various pairings with their proverbial brother band the Deftones. The Deftones are offering a deluxe digital edition of their forthcoming new album “Diamond Eyes” for preorder through iTunes. In addition to the albums standard track listing, the outing will feature the following three bonus tracks:
12 – “Do You Believe”
13 – “Ghosts”
14 – “Caress”
The songs are expected to be those recently mixed by Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. “Diamond Eyes” will see a May 04th release date through Reprise/Warner. A vinyl edition of the album is set to follow, landing in stores on May 25th.

Far guitarist Shaun Lopez has commented on his ongoing mixing sessions for three Deftones b-side tracks. Speaking via Twitter, he offered the following:
“Crash course in mixing 3 tunes near completion… 10 hours later. Deftones are very good at covering a broad range of tunes for sure.”
The Deftones‘ new album “Diamond Eyes” will land in stores on May 04th through Warner.

Far frontman Jonah Matranga and guitarist Shaun Lopez recently performed an intimate acoustic rendition of the title track to their new album, “At Night We Live“, you can find the footage below. The song itself is dedicated to Deftones bassist Chi Cheng who has been left ailing since a November 2008 car crash. “At Night We Live” will see a May 18th release date through Vagrant.
