Slayer Planning To Release A New EP Prior To Next Album

Slayer are planning to release a new 3-4 song EP as a precursor to their eventual next album. Band drummer Dave Lombardo recently broke the news to via the following exchange:

Any estimation when the album could see the light of day?

I don’t know, but we’re going to do a three or four-song EP to keep the fans pacified until we come out with the full-length record. Kind of like what we did with “Psycopathy Red,” which was like a two-song 45.”

According to Lombardo nine songs have been written thus far for Slayer‘s next full-length opus.

Sonisphere Knebworth Officially Cancelled

The annual Knebworth, UK edition of the “Sonisphere Festival” has officially been cancelled. The event was due to feature an impressive array of performers. The official statement regarding the festival’s cancellation can be read below:

“It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012.

Putting the festival together in what is proving to be a very challenging year was more difficult than we anticipated and we have spent the last few months fighting hard to keep Sonisphere in the calendar. Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we would be unable to run the festival to a standard that both the artists and that Sonisphere’s audience would rightly expect.

We want to express our deepest regrets to the artists and to thank all the staff, suppliers and contractors who worked so hard with us to try and pull off what has proven to be an impossible task and we know how much they share in our disappointment. We also want to send a huge thanks to the Sonisphere fans who stuck by us and we are so sorry that we can’t fulfil what we set out to do.

Ticket holders will automatically receive a full refund direct from their ticket agents.

Team Sonisphere.”

Trent Reznor Comments On The Infamous “Dance Party USA” Footage

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has responded to the recently-unearthed footage of his band performing on “Dance Party USA”. A series of tweets from Reznor regarding the video made earlier today (March 28th) include:

“Many years ago, a young and naive Nine Inch Nails were asked what TV shows they’d be interested in appearing on. As a joke (and likely drunk), they thought of the most absurd choice they could come up with at the time.

They were then informed their bluff had been called and were actually booked on said show (thanks again Sioux Z). They hopped in their Honda Civic touring vehicle (hatchback) and travelled many miles to (I think) NJ for the big show.

They had a laugh making fun of the people, their fashion choices and hairstyles. Life was good. Years later, the internet is discovered… There’s a moral in there somewhere.”

He later continued:

“Come to think of it, Skrillex may indeed owe me some publishing on that hairdo…”
