Metallica Cover Green Day At “Voodoo Experience”, Footage Available

Metallica paid tribute to Green Day during their set at this past weekend’s “Voodoo Experience” festival in New Orleans. The metal legends replaced Green Day on the bill as a result of Billie Joe Armstrong checking himself into rehab.

You can watch Metallica run through a partial cover of Green Day‘s “American Idiot” and share some kind words below:

Bullet For My Valentine have a February 11th release date slated for their new album “Temper Temper” in their native UK. In addition to that, the group have announced the following UK trek with Halestorm as support:

03/12 Birmingham, UK – O2 Academy
03/13 Glasgow, UK – O2 Academy
03/15 Manchester, UK – O2 Apollo
03/17 London, UK – Roundhouse

A European leg of the tour also looks to be in the works with the band set to play Tyrol in Stockholm, Sweden on March 24th.

Tomahawk performed their first live show in many years yesterday (October 27th) in Nashville, TN. Fan-filmed footage of the entire set, which took place at the Exit/In, can be viewed below. Along with playing new material from their upcoming album “Oddfellows” and breaking in new bassist Trevor Dunn (himself fresh off the Mevlins Lite‘s record-attempting run); the group closed out the set with a series of Bad Brains covers (“Pay To Cum” and “How Low Can A Punk Get“).

Tomahawk are of course comprised of members/alumni of Faith No More, Helmet and Mr. Bungle. They are due to release a 7″ single for their song “Stone Letter” as part of Record Store Day‘s “Black Friday” celebration on November 23rd. A digital release of the same track will follow on December 04th.

Their long-awaited new studio album “Oddfellows” will arrive in stores on January 29th via Ipecac Recordings.

Gwar vocalist Oderus Urungus has surprisingly come out saying that he doesn’t “hate” Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine. This of course comes after numerous rants (see here and here) that one would have thought suggested the contrary.

Earlier today (October 28th) Mustaine made the following comment on Twitter:

“If you don’t “support” something, does that mean you automatically “hate” it? Thoughts?”

Oderus offhandedly replied to the comment directly, saying: “No! I don’t support a lot of your politics, but I don’t hate you. You shred, game over! Keep it up, Metal-Lord!”

Rob Zombie didnt’t receive the same show of respect however. Urungus later launched into the following rant seemingly directed entirely at the shock rocker:

“He is far more talented than his music and art would lead you to expect. He could lead a revolution, instead he is a corporate tool. Bubble gum for Wal-Mart rockers. About as menacing as his fans. GWAR tries to destroy the world and make a new one, all he cares about is $.

Give GWAR a production budget like Zob Rombie gets and we would do some REAL DAMAGE. But enough, I have worlds to destroy. Here’s a reason I feel Rob lacks credibility as an artist…many years ago in an interview he was asked if he had seen GWAR. His reply– “When I saw GWAR, I thought man, I wanna do that, but I want to make money…” To me, an recording artist who is primarily motivated by making money is no artist at all. He’s a pop star. It’s why I started hating KISS.

And lets not forget White Zombies “Milli Vanilli moment” at the MTV awards…bands playing to pre-recorded tracks, and STILL blowing it…well, that simply is not rock and roll. Done with this. Catch ya later guys!”

Urungus has of course made his distaste for Zombie well-known in recent weeks.

Bad Brains vocalist H.R. joined the group for a cover his own bands “Right Brigade” and a rendition of the Deftones‘ “Bored“. Fan-filmed footage of both pairings is now available online below.

At least one member of the Deftones couldn’t contain his inner fanboy over the pairing. Bassist Sergio Vega took his Twitter with the following:

A brand new Limp Bizkit track titled “Lightz” has leaked out online and can be heard below. According to frontman Fred Durst, the song is not their new single and was “leaked prematurely”. While not explicitly stated, the track is expected to appear on their forthcoming album for Cash Money, “Stampede Of The Disco Elephants“.

Meanwhile, a music video is in production for their collaboration with Lil Wayne, “Ready To Go“. The video is being shot for the “Urban Assault Version” of the song with various photos from the filming available here, here, here and here.
