Former Korn Touring Guitarist Shane Gibson Passes Away (Updated)

While there’s no firm details just yet, former Korn guitarist Shane Gibson has apparently passed away. Gibson originally took over the parts of Brian “Head” Welch in the outfit and had various roles in the bands touring lineup from 2007-2010. Friends and fans have been flooding Gibson‘s Facebook with tributes in light of the news.

Update – April 15th 9:57am:

Gibson‘s bandmates in stOrk have confirmed his untimely passing, posting the below statement via their Facebook:

“It is with deepest sadness and regret that we must confirm that stOrk founding member and lead guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed away at 5:45 AM on April 15th, 2014 in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as a result of complications from a blood clotting disorder. He was 35 years old. He was one of the best guitar players the world has ever known and his virtuosity was matched only by his wit and generosity of spirit. He will be missed beyond measure.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who loved him as much as we did.

Failure Confirm There Won’t Be Any Opening Acts On Their Spring US Tour

Failure have confirmed that there will be no opening act on their ‘Tree Of Stars Tour‘. The group issued the below statement on that today:

“There are no opening acts on any of the Tree of Stars tour dates. The show will run similar to what we did at the El Rey show in February. Short opening Film, followed by an extended set of Failure songs. For this tour, since people have not seen us play live in so long, we want to be able to play a wide breadth of material from all 3 albums. An opening act would cut down our set list significantly.”

Skeletonwitch have released the following recap video of their recent US tour with Amon Amarth and Enslaved. Last month the band followed through on their promise to donate the proceeds from a limited edition vinyl pressing of their “Serpents Unleashed” album to two animal shelters in their hometown.
