The Handshake Murders Call It A Day

The Handshake Murders have broken up. An update on that from band frontman Jayson Holmes reads as follows:

“Sorry to say that we have broken up. Thank you to everyone who supported us in any way over the ten plus years of our existence. Thank you again. Our guitar player Brandon (in our
latest line-up) went on to start a new band called Bloodworm. or which lies in the same vein as this band.

The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman recently spoke with regarding his other ‘supergroup’, Cut Throat Tactics. That project finds Weinman handling the drums alongside Thursday‘s Geoff Rickly and members of Ink & Dagger fame.

Here’s what he had to say regarding it:

“I’ve been playing drums for Cut Throat Tactics. We actually started recording this weekend it was great to push myself with another instrument, I have always played drums and written drum parts for Dillinger but actually pushing myself with a new instrument has been pretty sick.

We are just getting ready to put out a 7” and the mindset for the project is totally old school; let’s make music together, put it out and not worry about signing to some giant label. Let’s just put it out there, have people check it out and play some shows.”

Trivium vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy expressed some interesting choices when recently asked by Loudwire what his dream musical collaboration would be. Responding to the question, he replied:

“Because I like to follow suit with doing things that are opposites, I would love to do something with Lady Gaga or Skrillex, things that are just totally different or even Angelo (Badalamenti) — I’m not going to try to pronounce his last name. He’s the guy that scores all of David Lynch’s movies, he makes really intense, just ambient noise textures, I think he would be really cool to collaborate with.”
