Former Kyuss members Joshua Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age, etc.) and Scott Reeder have filed a federal lawsuit against their ex-Kyuss bandmates John Garcia and Brant Bjork over the use of the Kyuss name. The following statement was issued by the Homme and Reeder:

Kyuss members Scott Reeder and Joshua Homme have been forced to file a federal lawsuit against John Garcia and Brant Bjork a/k/a Kyuss Lives! The suit alleges trademark infringement and consumer fraud by Kyuss Lives!

Quote from Reeder and Homme is below.

“It sucks. To think we went to a meeting in January solely to help them with their request to continue Kyuss Lives! With open arms, we made every attempt to help them continue Kyuss Lives! respectfully. Only to discover while they looked us in the eye, Kyuss Lives! management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an attempt to steal the name Kyuss.

This is desperately what we were trying to avoid. It’s a sad day for us and for John – but most of all for the fans. What a needless mess.”

An official copy of the suit filed can be found online here.

Grand Magus Sign With Nuclear Blast

Grand Magus have signed with Nuclear Blast Records and are planning to release their album “The Hunt” through the label this spring. Band vocalist/guitarist Janne “JB” Christoffersson offered:

Grand Magus have finally found their hailing port – we’ve wrapped up a deal with the mighty Heavy Metal label Nuclear Blast. By this, a new chapter will be opened, both in our band and in metal history. With The Hunt we will consequently keep on marching down the metallic path we’ve started to pursue over the course of the past years. Be prepared to be lined up in our sights from the end of May on, when The Hunt will strike! FUCK THE WORLD!”
