Primer 55 will begin mixing their upcoming new album "(The) New Release" the first week of May and are eyeing either Ron St. Germain (Bad Brains, 311) or Ulrich Wild (Taproot, Static-X) to helm the process. The effort is expected out this summer through Island/Def Jam and band guitarist Bobby Burns recently commented on its sound and direction saying:
"We are NOT the same band and this time we're bringing fresh new music from the past back to the forefront with a new mix of hardcore, punk, 70's funk, jazz, southern rock and metal. These new tunes are very experimental and I think with that we'll be bringing people some new refreshing music nothing like anything that's out right now."
The new material is said to even feature a horn section on 3 different songs.
We Caught You Plotting Project

Project 86 have been spending their recent downtime writing new material for their next effort. The group originally hit the studio a few months back with producer GGGarth Richardson (Mudvayne, Kittie) and recorded demos of a few new tracks and have been continuing the writing process since then. In the meantime, band frontman Andrew has been putting together a book titled "We Caught You Plotting Murder". It is expected to feature around 65 pages of his various writings and will be made available on their upcoming "Your New Empire, 2001" Tour which kicks off on May 01st and will also feature Living Sacrifice and Stavesacre.

Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo and Biohazard have collaborated together on a track said to be titled "HFFK (Hate, Fuck, Fight, Kill)". The two recorded the song backstage at the last stop of Pantera's recent Tour and the song is slated to show up on Biohazard's upcoming new album "Uncivilization", due out in Europe on June 25th through SPV/Steamhammer. Linkin Park plan to begin writing material for their next effort while on tour in support of their current Warner Bros. debut, "Hybrid Theory". The group will be writing and demoing new songs with Pro Tools recording equipment set up on their tour bus. Band bassist Phoenix commented on the more lenient recording schedule stating:
"I think all six of us have been more pressure performers than anything else, so it'll be interesting to see how we do without a big deadline looming over our heads, and see what comes out of that process. At the same time, I think we're really looking forward to being able to sit down and go through the creative process again and start working on new stuff that way."

Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Dimitri Minakakis has parted ways with the band due to personal reasons. An official statement was released regarding the matter and is as follows:
"Due to personal reasons, Dimitri Minakakis , lead singer and co-founding member of the Dillinger Escape Plan, has left the band to pursue non-music related endeavors.
Both Dimitri and the rest of the band would like to make it very clear that this parting is 100% mutual and amicable; and in no way due to dysfunction between members. He has always been, and will continue to be, part of everything that this band does.
Please note that the Dillinger Escape Plan has not broken up! In the meantime, the band will be going on a small hiatus until a new singer is in place. There will be one more show with the current lineup including Dimitri, which will be announced in the coming weeks."

Crossbreed have firmed up their video shoot plans for their new single "Underlined". It will take place on May 05th at The Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ. Slipknot are confirmed to be taking part in the upcoming remake of the 1975 film "Rollerball". The group will be performing an as of yet unspecified song in the movie and will film their part for it in Los Angeles, CA later this month. The movie itself however will land in theaters on August 17th. In other news, the release date of the groups forthcoming sophomore effort for Roadrunner, rumored to be titled "Iowa", has now been bumped up from July to June 19th. American Head Charge have posted sound clips of three new songs on the listening room section of their official website www.headcharge.com. They are "Just So You Know", "Americunt Evolving Into Useless Psychic Garbage" and "A Violent Reaction". The album was produced by Rick Rubin (Slayer, System Of A Down) and is planned for a late July/Early August release through American/Columbia.

Chimaira hope to finish tracking their upcoming Roadrunner debut "Pass Out Of Existence" by April 21st. the group are currently working on it with producer Mudrock (Godsmack, Powerman 5000) in Los Angeles, CA and are set to begin mixing it on May 01st at NRG Studios. So far the group have completed the drums, guitars and bass for almost all of the songs and are currently finishing off tracking the vocals, with 6 songs being completed so far. They are slated to begin tracking the programming today and will continue recording the vocals as well. In related news, they have also decided to re-record their cover of The Cure's "Fascination Street" for use as a b-side use sometime down the line. The album is expected out this fall.

It looks as though Little Rock, Arkansas based act Evanescence have signed a recording contract with Wind-Up Records and plan to release their debut through the label this fall. The album is expected to feature 12 songs in total, some of which will be revamped versions of tracks from their indie release "Origin", while others will be all new material. Due to some legalities though, the group will be changing their name before releasing the album and they expect to pick a moniker in the coming months. Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd recently commented on what to expect from the groups upcoming new album which they are currently recording in Malibu, CA with producer Scott Litt (Hole, Nirvana). Here's what he had to say:
"It's the heaviest riffs that we've ever had, coupled with the most pleasing melodic aspects as well, it's not like heavy, mindless heavy. It's got this purity to it... It's heavily pure, almost like ketchup."
The album is planned for a release this September / October through Immortal/Epic.

Sevendust are set to hit Trans Continental Studios in Orlando, FL to begin recording their as of yet untitled third album next month. The band will be tracking the guitars and vocals at the studio while the bass and drum tracks will be recorded at Stankonia Recordings in Atlanta, GA. They will be working with producer Ben Grosse (Filter, Simon Says) and are planning to have some guest appearances on the album, which is hoped to be released in October through TVT. Currently, they have written over a dozen songs for the effort and tentative track titles include:
