(7:15 PM MST 01/09/2004)
As expected, Spineshank have indeed parted ways with their vocalist Jonny Santos, here is drummer Tommy Decker's official statement on the matter:
"The rumor is true. It is an amicable split and is mainly due to musical differences. The four of us have accomplished a lot of things together, the biggest being our most recent Grammy nomination for 'Best Metal Performance' for 'Smothered'. We are all very proud of the music that we have made over the years but the time has come for us all to move on. As for the future of Spineshank — Mike, Rob and myself will begin the search for a new singer as we write new material and continue to build upon the foundation we have made as Spineshank. We wish Jonny the best of luck in all of his future endeavors."

Better Statement - wookubus
(6:48 PM MST 01/09/2004)
God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle recently checked in with the following update:
"Happy New Year to everyone from the God Forbid camp! We hope you partied hard and had very little hangovers. We played some shows in Mass and New York on the holiday with our good friends in Etown Concrete and All that Remains. We had a blast jamming with everyone. It was a good way to burn off some holiday dinner weight. The new God Forbid album entitled Gone Forever comes out February 24th, and we've been home getting everything in gear for this damn things release. If you can't wait til February 24th, the Better Days EP single is available right now online, at Hot Topic, and some select record stores. Although the EP is a nice little preview, it's barely a glimpse into the depth and power that Gone Forever will unleash. In about a week or so, we will release a new MP3 of the track "Anti-Hero" online, so everyone can get a feel for what's in store for the full length. Anyone who's seen us on tour since the summer, has probably heard this song. "Better Days" shows some new elements that the God Forbid has implemented into our sound, but "Anti-Hero" is probably more of a traditional GF track. I know "Better Days" threw some old fans off a bit, but understand that the album has all kinds of songs, and every song is different. Some are in the vein of older material, and some are tackling uncharted territory for the band.
Speaking of "Better Days", we just saw the final cut of the video. Although we spent a modest budget by many people's standards, the video came out great thanks to the director, Daniel Ho, and our editor. We will probably be going on Headbanger’s Ball to premier the video in late February. We will definitely post the info on that when we get it. An instrumental version of "Better Days" will also be featured in PS2 video game called MTX: Mototrax featuring motocross racer Travis Pastrana. This is the first video game for God Forbid. Pretty cool.
There is also a new version of www.godforbid.com currently being designed. The new site promises to be much more pleasing to look at and be user friendly with a new message board, band diaries, and some cool features like God Forbid wallpapers and buddy icons. All in our camp have also been very busy working on some tour plans to start when the record comes out. We will be playing some record release shows in the northeast and midwest with a kick ass line up to be announced with in a week or so. There are also plans for a follow-up full U.S. tour supporting a bigger metal band. Keep an eye out for postings for any dates soon. One thing that is definite is that God Forbid will be doing an in-store performance at Vintage Vinyl Records in Fords, NJ on the record release date February 24th. Anyone who pre-orders the CD, to be picked up at Vintage Vinyl will receive a free autographed poster, and be entered into a drawing for an autographed ESP guitar. Everyone in the New Jersey area make sure you come out to this! It will be our only NJ appearance surrounding the record release. Everyone have a good 2004! It's gonna be busy as hell for us! See ya on tour."

The Red Clients - wookubus
(1:11 PM MST 01/09/2004)
The Red Chord have been keeping busy as of late and recently addressed their current situation in a press release, the most interesting part of which is as follows:
"The band has taken the winter off from playing out to complete work on their forthcoming full length tentatively entitled 'Clients'.
Scheduled for release at some point during 2004, the band considers the new material to be some of their most innovative, extreme and all-around best representative works to date. There have been some changes to the roster. The Red Chord have enlisted new bassist Gregory Weeks (Beyond the Sixth Seal), the brother of former bassist Adam Wentworth, and drummer Jon Dow (Dead Water Drowning). The splits with former members Mike Justain (drummer) and Adam Wentworth (bassist) have both been amicable. Justain will continue playing in Unearth and Wentworth has assumed the permanent role as bass player for Premonitions of War. We wish them all the best of luck with their new bands. And fear not, Dow will in fact remain in Dead Water Drowning.
The band has been in negotiations with several labels over the past year since the release of their debut, Fused Together in Revolving Doors (Robotic Empire in 2002 and Reflection Records in Europe). Extended negotiations have progressed considerably and the band is nearing a decision as to exactly which label the next album will come out on. Look for further announcements concerning labels, tours and more information on a recently put together video for the track 'Dreaming in Dog Years' in the near future."

When Converge Comes Crashing - wookubus
(1:33 PM MST 01/06/2004)
Converge have now signed a deal with Epitaph. The label commented on the matter, stating:
"Metallic hardcore heavyweights Converge have officially signed with Epitaph. Converge will begin recording their Epitaph debut and long-awaited follow-up to 2001’s critically acclaimed Jane Doe, tentatively entitled You Fail Me, in March and April with a release slated for mid-2004.
For 13 years, Boston, MA’s Converge have pushed the boundaries of their abrasive sonic art while never forsaking their heaviness, vision or integrity. Converge have constantly challenged the ever-shifting definition of “hardcore” with their undeniably influential prior releases; Petitioning The Empty Sky, When Forever Comes Crashing and Jane Doe. All three albums rank high on the “must-own” lists of many aggressive music fans and have established Converge as one of the underground’s precious few leaders in a sea of followers.
Comments Converge’s singer/visual design terrorist Jacob Bannon on the signing, 'We are confident as artists and genuinely happy about the move. We are part of a diverse, quality roster with Epitaph, rich in both history and integrity. We've struggled for years looking for a supportive label to call home and after a decade we have found it.'"
In other news, the band have lined up the following three west coast dates:
February 18th San Diego, CA - The Che Cafe
February 19th West Hollywood, CA - Whisky A Go Go (Feat. Curl Up And Die, Stricken)
February 20th Anaheim, CA - Chain Reaction

Regardless of the rumors going around about why Kelly left the fold, we prefer to keep this private. We are not in the business of trash talking. HASTE will continue to make music and tour as long as we possibly can. We'll see you on the road very soon.
Thank you,
Brandon, Chris, Jason, Jeff & Nick"
