The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve is a section of ThePRP dedicated to up and coming talented artists. We hear countless new bands each week and as such, we will be showcasing the cream of the crop here in this section. Updated regularly, a variety of bands will always be on display here for those who are looking for something new and fresh.

Detroit, MI
Similar To:
At The Drive-In, Cursive

Audio:
"Yeah Bro, This Is How The Story Goes"
"We're From Detroit"

Rescue:
Rescue have only been around for two years now, but despite their currently quiet profile and short time together, the two releases this group have put out have already garnered them a dedicated fan base. Featuring members of Wafflehouse and Fordirelifesake within their ranks, this quartet will soon be making quite a name for themselves as infamous producer Ross Robinson (Glassjaw, At The Drive-In) has signed on to produce their upcoming new album which will see a release around mid 2003.

Official Website:

Label:
Independent
Location:
Montreal, QC
Similar To:
Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah

Mp3's:
"The Girl Next Door Is Always Screaming"
"The Bud Dwyer Effect"

Ion Dissonance:
Not much is known about this devastating quintet from Montreal, QC as little to no information about them has made its way online. But this really doesn't matter in the long run as the music which they create is some of the most brutal mathematically oriented metal to make its way onto a CD. With a new full-length effort entitled "Breathing Is Irrelevant" on the way, this group look to have all the necessary tools to leave any audience in traction.

Official Website:
www.cardiamusic.com
Label:
Independent
Location:
New York City, NY
Similar To:
Radiohead, Coldplay

Audio:
"Stars"

Cardia:
A union of previously established talent, Cardia feature former members of Rival Schools, 2 Skinnee J's, The Verve Pipe, Shudder To Think and more within their ranks and as unlikely as such an amalgamation of talent might seem, it comes off flawlessly. A beautifully crafted blend of spacey art rock with quivering highs and lows, the bands full-length effort is a startling showcase of talent and poise.

Official Website:
www.kaddisfly.com
Label:
Independent
Location:
Portland, OR
Similar To:
Lostprophets, Incubus, Glasssjaw

Mp3's:
"Incense And Ambiguity"
"Lower Case Letter"
"Late Night Car Crash"

Kaddisfly:
Oregon's Kaddisfly have come a long way since their first jam session in a chicken coop a few years back. While their previous release "Honorable Mention" made a considerable dent for them locally, their latest release "Humania" sounds far more mature and refined and with ambitious touring plans and a strong internet buzz beginning to pick up, they may never have to enter that damned coop again.

Official Website:
www.vauxrock.com
Label:
Volcom Entertainment
Location:
Denver, CO
Similar To:
At The Drive-In, Refused

Audio:
"Everyday"
"To The End"

Vaux:
Formerly known as Eiffel, Vaux aren't necessarily a brand new band as they are already quite well known in the underground, thanks in part to playing shows alongside the likes of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Snapcase, Boysetsfire, Thursday, Cave In and many more. But while their EP "On Life; Living" turned a few heads, the band are now putting the finishing touches on their full-length debut and with plans being set to release it in March with extensive touring to follow, they look ready to step it up to the next level.
