The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve is a section of ThePRP dedicated to up and coming talented artists. We hear countless new bands each week and as such, we will be showcasing the cream of the crop here in this section. Updated regularly, a variety of bands will always be on display here for those who are looking for something new and fresh.

Similar To:
Lostprophets, Incubus, Tool

"Id"

Dilutral:
Performing together with relatively the same line-up more or less since 1997, Dilutral have underwent a few stylistic changes that led them to the release of an interesting EP entitled "Everything.Nothing" in 2000. Taking their time to hone their craft, the band have now returned with "Phi" and with more high profile shows in their native scene continually being lined up in support of it, things are definitely on the upswing for this quintet.

Similar To:
Failure

Mp3's:
"Hunted"

Year Of The Rabbit:
Featuring one of the chief forces behind one of the most influential yet, overlooked groups of the past decade; Former Failure frontman Ken Andrews has returned to his spacey rock roots with his latest project Year Of The Rabbit. With a few well received live shows already under their belt, various major labels interested and an album already recorded and currently pending a release, perhaps this time around Andrews and co.'s talent will finally get its due.

Official Website:

Location:
St. Catharines, ON
Similar To:
Thrice, Thursday, Nora

Audio:
"A Dagger Through The Heart Of St.Angeles"
"44. Caliber Love Letter"
"Little Girls Pointing And Laughing"

Alexisonfire:
Perhaps one of the most high profile screamo styled bands Canada currently has to offer, Alexisonfire saw the release of their Distort Entertainment debut this past Halloween and with shows, video play and more all falling into place in support of it they just might be the band that successfully displays the fire that burns in the underground scene of the frozen white north.

Official Website:
www.ducttapemustache.com
Label:
Independent
Location:
????, IL
Similar To:
Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Oingo Boingo

Mp3's:
"Camel Sneakers"
"Saturday Morning Telecast"
"Nerve"

Duct Tape Mustache:
While most young bands are busy trying to emulate whatever is hot, this impressively talented six piece have instead pieced together a baffling musical carnival from the blueprints laid out by Mr. Bungle, Zappa, Primus and more. By no means the first band to tread down this path, their youthful energy and fresh ideas do however manage to add a distinct tilt, making them a noteworthy listen overall.

Official Website:
www.inreverentfear.com
Label:
Anxiety Records
Location:
Concord, CA
Similar To:
Zao, Glassjaw, Finch

Audio:
"Yearbook Signing Party"
"Santa Ana"
"Only For A Season"

In Reverent Fear:
While little information is provided about this up and coming CA based act, their music speaks volumes as to what they have to offer. With a new full-length effort entitled "Written In The A.M." on the way and the buzz already starting to catch on locally, this group look as though they have nothing to fear when it comes to a successful music career.
