The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve is a section of ThePRP dedicated to up and coming talented artists. We hear countless new bands each week and as such, we will be showcasing the cream of the crop here in this section. Updated regularly, a variety of bands will always be on display here for those who are looking for something new and fresh.

Divided:
Originally formed under the moniker of Drift back in 1999, Divided have kept themselves busy with a grueling regional touring schedule courtesy of some well received demo's and EP's. Playing with acts both big and small, the bands dedication to the road and constant live performances have translated superbly over into their music and with a large evolutionary leap on display with their latest demo, it doesn't take a mathematician to see that this bands music is adding up to success.

Haste The Day:
The savagery of Indiana's metalcore scene returns once again, this time in the form of the talented up and comers Haste The Day. With a new EP entitled "That They May Know You" on the horizon and regional shows in the works, the band looked primed to make a name for themselves and with a versatile sound that is as refreshing as it is bruising already in place, it looks like their day is coming post-haste.

"Return"
"Saratoga Trail"

High Point:
After touring day in and day for over a year with the likes of Slayer, Danzig, God Forbid, American Head Charge and many more, it seems Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter and band bassist Jim LaMarca wanted to express a different side of metal that didn't exactly fit within the Chimaira play book. So with the help of a few old band mates from groups of days past and Hunter ditching the microphone in favor of a guitar, High Point was formed and quickly entered the studio to record a 3 song demo. While Chimaira still remains the #1 priority, High Point plan to take advantage of the aforementioned bands current down time and will make their live debut in Cleveland in November.

Similar To:
Shun, dredg, Kary

Mp3's:
"Lunar Fictions"
"A Vial Marked Vertigo"

Jada Morning:
Little is known about Jada Morning as they are a band who prefer to let their music say nearly everything that needs to be said. Playing a sparse amount of shows over the past year they have somewhat become local legends, winning over audiences when they do play out and leaving the buzz to spread like wildfire among curious listeners when they don't. This may change in the near future however as a new release is on the horizon and the group are plotting to beef up their touring regiment, though only time will tell if they will make their physical presence felt as much as their auditory presence already is.

Official Website:

Label:
Independent
Location:
????, CA
Similar To:
System Of A Down, Amen, Snot

Audio:
"Nothing Left To Do"
"Burnt Offerings"

Mothra:
A new side project with a line-up that is a veritable who's who of the modern metal crop, Mothra feature within their ranks Jason Radford and Levon Sultanian of Onesidezero, Tumor of Amen and Mikey Doling and Roy Mayorga of Soulfly. With no labels involved and a sound that is more raw and open ended than the members respective groups generally allow them, Mothra is an interesting look into the musical minds of those involved and is a recommended listen for anyone whose enjoyed the work that the groups members have done in the past and present.
