The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve is a section of ThePRP dedicated to up and coming talented artists. We hear countless new bands each week and as such, we will be showcasing the cream of the crop here in this section. Updated regularly, a variety of bands will always be on display here for those who are looking for something new and fresh.

"Erasure"

Brazil:
Brazil are a band that seem to be on the tip of everyone's tongue as of late and the music contained on their recently released EP "Dasein" is a good indication why. Having already toured with a number of established acts, this band are continuing their road running ways and looking towards the release of their upcoming full-length debut.

Duro:
Formed in 2001 from the ashes of such bands as Noise and Luminol, Duro are a fierce combination of the good old crushing southern metal Pantera made famous and the mathy song structures of Meshuggah and Mudvayne. Heavy on groove and intensity, its good to see that the Texas legacy is still alive and kicking.

www.throughsilence.com
Label:
Independent
Location:
Sussex, UK
Similar To:
Lostprophets, Thursday

Audio:
"Two Words One Girl"
"Lending A Closed Hand"

Through Silence:
Despite being a young band from the U.K., Through Silence have already landed some impressive support slots, opening for the likes of Boysetsfire, The Used and more. The group also managed to align themselves with Freeze Management (Glassjaw, Vex Red) and just recently released their new two song CD which is already turning heads. With such necessary feats already coming so fast and furiously one can only think that success will be next.

Official Website:
www.pigskin.nu
Label:
Independent
Location:
Stockholm, SWE
Similar To:
Glassjaw, Incubus, Blindside

Mp3's:
"From Coma"
"Please"
"Make U Like This"

Pigskin:
Formed in 2000, Sweden's Pigskin already have two demos under their belts and while their music may be somewhat more commonplace in their native country, it is an anomaly from a North American viewpoint. A genre bending take on modern metal, the band ooze creativity and take many chances - something that the similar bands on our shores don't seem have the balls to do anymore.

Official Website:
www.irvingrose.com
Label:
Independent
Location:
Keyport, NJ
Similar To:
Dillinger Escape Plan, Candiria, Mr. Bungle

Audio:
"Tooth For A Tear, Life For A Year"
"OK Bye, I'm Going To Sleep"

Irving Rose:
Originally known as Cadence, New Jersey has sprung forth yet another stunning metalcore band and while metalcore bands from NJ may be a dime a dozen, Irving Rose are one that definitely deserve mention. While most bands are sharply focused on outright brutality, Irving Rose instead inject keyboards and sinister sounding melodies - a refreshing change of pace indeed.
