PRP: Lets start off with the basics, how did you guys get together?
Marshall: We all went through a dating service.
Mark: Haha. Actually Marshall and Todd were the first ones who started playing together oh and this guy Gary played guitar. They found Rowe in 96 and he knew me from school. Then we knew J Roo from a previous band he played in. He was actually the bass player but he wanted to play guitar. He replaced the original guitarist, then we added Dicky.
David: Yeah I was introduced to the band by another guy who was kinda singing for OBC. They were gonna have 2 singers but he didn't work out so well.

PRP: Coming from Jacksonville, FL has it been hard to get local attention once Limp Bizkit blew up?
Jay: Of course it's hard. The scene in Jax received no love from radio or club owners which makes it hard to get a fan base. I mean Fred helped a few bands blow up but kinda neglected the Jax scene. Now I think the scene is totally being rebuilt largely in part by our manager Mikey. He does so much to help the scene it's sick. I think LB could help more but I know they are very busy. To be honest though the scene is much better than a lot of other places out there.
Mark: Yeah you would think that with LB being so huge it would make it a little bit easier to be heard as far as management and booking agents are concerned but a lot of people have their own interpretations on Bizkit. A lot of times it works against us honestly.
Todd: Yea Order By Chaos has mad love in this city because we earned it ourselves. The LB thing never helped us at all. Nothing bad about them or anything they're doing their thing and that's cool as shit. We survive by doing our thing though.

PRP: The Florida scene is well know more for pop and hardcore bands, has it been a struggle to get established?
Mark: Hell yea. Not by choice, but we had to become the forerunners of the current Jville scene. The last generation of bands did good but we had to re-establish the scene here. Lots of no paying gigs, endless flyering, pro actively getting local nights started at clubs. It's all good that's just our work ethic anyways.
Todd: Yes we definitely dealt with a lot of struggle. But that's what makes or breaks a band. We're still struggling just like everyone who is trying to make it.

PRP: A lot of attention has been focused lately on the Florida scene with acts like Darwin's Waiting Room, Nonpoint and others getting signed, do you guys think their eventual pulling away from the scene will bring more focus to yourselves?
Marshall: Hopefully!! Not only for us but for other up and coming bands. There are a lot in Florida. We're glad Endo finally got the Columbia deal as well.
David: We actually have been getting some attention already. Hope it just brings even more.

PRP: If a senior citizen ran into your house, dropped his pants and started dragging his ass around on your carpet like a dog, would you kick his ass, even though he's elderly and frail?
David: Nah old people kick ass.
Marshall: We'd just scold him and throw him in the dog's cage. I just got this great carpet cleaner shit so I could test it out it Ii needed to.
Todd: I wouldn't be able to do anything but laugh hysterically and maybe throw a beer can or chicken wing at him.

PRP: Your guys newer material showcases more depth and melody and strays a bit from the rapcore sound of the first album, would you say it represents the direction in which you guys are headed?
David: Definitely. Rapcore is cool and we will always have a hip hop influence but I think we're steering toward the more abstract way of expression. I kinda of have to because the straight forward style of expression has always gotten me in trouble.
Mark: I think the music is a lot more angry....more hate based. You think the longer you do music, the better shows you play and the more fans you gain that you would be happier but that's the dream world. Fact is the longer you do this the more angry you become, the more people you meet some are cool but most are so full of shit. Too many people want to sell you on some dream shit, but fuck that we deal with reality.

PRP: The name Order By Chaos almost suggests anarchistic ideals, what do you guys feel the name signifies?
Todd: I was the one who thought of the name. It just seemed to fit everything about us as people. It's human nature. Everything is chaotic, we harness that and use it for ammunition. Everyone in the band I think has a different feeling on the name.
Marshall: It totally represents us as a band. We live everyday in chaos. Always something fucked up but somehow we all pull together and rise above which represents the order.
David: See the live show. I think that will help people understand the name more.
Mark: Yea the stage show is fucking nuts but there is still structure involved. It's the way we all live our lives also.

PRP: There's a lot of different elements at play in your music with melody, turntables and aggressive rapcore, are you guys intentionally trying to incorporate different styles or does it just flow like this?
Jay: Well ya have 6 different people with 6 different styles trying to make one. So it's going to have a lot of different layers. We take pride in that.
Marshall: That's the way it's been since day one when we started the band about 4 years ago. Everything that gets written is completely natural.

PRP: Have any of Order By Chaos ever Ordered By Phone?
Marshall: No we only Order By Catalog.

PRP: The artwork for the "A Dynasty Is Born" CD is somewhat disturbing, just who is the creepy kid on the back?
Jay: Hey fucker that's my son!!!
Mark: No fun story about that one. I found the kids picture in a catalog (cuz that's where we Order from) somewhere. I don't wanna know who he is though he, may want royalties or something.

PRP: If you guys are really living in the Land Of The Lost as the song "Just A Thought" suggests, then where are all the Sleestaks?
Todd: Enek was a pimp. I think he wanted Holly. Chaka was way too hairy.

PRP: The group has recently made an effort to exposure the Jacksonville scene, are there any other particular bands from the area which you guys feel aren't getting their share of exposure?
David: There's a few here like Smakt Down, Snagglepuss....
Todd: Zerokiller...
Mark: Senter Point. They just played their first show and tore shit up.
Jay: A lot of bands kinda slack here but they're doing a lot better now in regards to promoting themselves
Mark: Yea Smakt Down busts their ass, so does Senter Point and Zerokiller. Both those bands are real real new and they have a lot of drive. Jacksonville definitely has a lot of promise.

PRP: The track THC suggests a fondness of the green, would this still be something the band indulges in or has any solid opinion on?
Jay: What's THC?
Todd: I'm all for legalization but I don't touch the shit. It's a very important resource though.
David: High is good...better than low.

PRP: Many bands from Florida have moved away to try and seek success and ultimately failed, have you guys every considered relocating?
David: No!!!
Marshall: We will never deny Jville.
Jay: A lot of people say this city doesn't need two LB's but I think we are totally different then those guys. We are way fucking heavier.

PRP: Just what's the deal with all the bald heads?
Marshall: We previously were monks
Todd: I have hair. I have good hair at that hahaha.
Jay: What the hell kinda question is that. Are you trying to say something? I mean fuck no one says "hey Montel Williams is bald. He's a racist"!! Haha no seriously I have really really bad hair. I've shaved my head since 9th grade.
David: It's too damn hot in Florida to have hair.

PRP: It's been around 2 years since your guys last release, when can we next expect some new material out?
Mark: Soon!! We were in the mist of making another CD and we started to talking to "important people" but I'm sick of waiting to release our shit. It will be worth the wait though I promise.

PRP: What's in the near future for OBC?
Todd: We'll just keep bringing our balls and we'll see where that takes us!
Marshall: We have a lot of good shows on the horizon.

PRP: Thats about it, any shoutouts or shameless self promotion?
Mark: Thanks Wook for the interview and support. PRP is the shit.
David: Lick Em Low bitch....Chaos forever!!
